auto tire  (United States)

i now have over 100 miles on the auto tire. i see increased traction and braking with the auto tire. to me its the way to go. As for as how much milage we will get is yet to see, but i can't see changing a tire every few thousand miles. i have over 21 thousand miles on my scooter. put those on in one and half years. i triked mine out last nov. so i got very little riding time on the scooter tire, but enough to know i won't go back. i just finished putting a piggy backer trailer together and will let you know how the trike did pulling that when we get some good weather. trailer has 12 inch wheels and weighs 170 lbs.  i can tell you this, with the auto tire on the trike my mpg is showing 39 to 40. perhaps with the weight of the trike kit and probably an increase in the drag of the new tire with more rubber on the ground this is to expected.

Re: auto tire  (N/A)

How much air pressure are you running?

I have probably 1000 miles before I need to change original tire.

Looking the sidewall it mentions 44 psi for 900+ pounds. We're a good bit less than that.

Surprisingly it says not to exceed 40 pounds to seat the tire. Guess I thought it took more to seat it.

Re: auto tire  (United States)

i run 32 lbs in mine at this time, but i might experiment with a little less,  then a little more to see if it improves the ride

I kinda figured that I wouldn't need 44 psi but needed a starting point.

My 7500 mile checkup is coming up before long and I figured I'd take the Towpac off, get the tire mounted, add the Hyperpro front springs and the Ikon rear shocks all at the same time. I know you shouldn't make but one change at a time but I figured if I was gonna remove the tow pac to change the tire, I'd just do the rest at the same time then put it back on and readjust for the added height of the tire then experiment with the different settings of everything.

Thanks for the info...Sonny.

Re: auto tire  (Canada)

I will probably try around 28, i dont think it would hurt the car tire and should give a nice ride and more traction.   Wayne

Re: auto tire  (N/A)

Thanks for info on air pressure. Got the car tire on today so based on y'all's experiance I'll start with 32#.

Gonna be out of commision about a week. One of the rear pads is gone so had to order a new pair.

Went ahead and put Ikons on back while tire was off. want to change fork oil but figure it might be more stable raising front end with Tow-Pac installed after brake pads are replaced.

Have fun..Sonny
