Help with GVWR  (N/A)
Hi all, I’m considering installing a Danson Trike Kit for my 2007 Burgman 400 and was wondering if anyone knows how this affects the 910 lb GVWR.

If I add the following:

Burgman Dry Weight = 438 lbs

Fluids = ?? Lbs

Danson Kit = 200 lbs

‘Me’ = 135 lbs

‘DH’ = 175 lbs

Total = > 950 lbs

If these assumptions are correct, by adding the Danson kit I’ve lost the ability to ride 2-up because of the weight/drag of the kit and additional wheels. Am I correct in my assumptions?

Re: Help with GVWR  (Canada)

I have no problem with the Danson on my 650, my body and other accessories add near 100 lbs, with my wife and I about 320 lbs, + 200 for trike, still lots of power and drives great. The trike wheels take a lot of the weight on mine.  Wayne

Re: Help with GVWR  (N/A)

I ride a Burgman 400 or a Yamaha Majesty 400 daily with a danson trike kit installed. I weigh 275 lbs. I am not an engineer, but, I would think that since the Danson kit adds more stability and puts 2 more tires on the ground that allows the weight to be distributed better, the GVWR shouldnt be a factor.

The only factor that I would consider is that the 165 lbs of the danson kit is. basically another person. The 400 is a one cylinder engine and the performance and fuel milage will none the less be affected.

In my experience, the 400 will loose acceleration on hill climbing, With just me on the bike, I can only do about 68 mph up the hills here in central KY close to us. with 2 adults, the bike would only do about 58 mph. (this hill also requires my Honda Accord to be downshifted from 5th to 4th gear).

I hope this helps.

Mike
