Tow-Pac 650 ride quality  (N/A)
Modified By Oldenny on 6/14/2010 3:17:12 AM)

Have been riding our trike two-up for over a year and it has given no problems.

We still find the ride quality poor and about the same as an empty Mack Truck.

There are  many very interesting discussions concerning front  and rear shock mods

and a CT at the rear, most of them expensive and seemingly with not much improvement,

but I wondered if the ride could be improved by something as simple as reducing

the tire pressures fromSuzuki's recommended.

I still have OE tires on the Burgie but don't have to worry anymore about the tire tread while leaning hard over

in the corners.  Lower tire pressure would also put more rubber on the ground (larger footprint).

I haven't talked to any tire dealers about it yet but wonder if other Tow-Pac owners and especially

Wayne from his Danson Trike days, have expertise in this.

Re: Tow-Pac 650 ride quality  (Canada)

If you drop tire pressure you will ruin your motorcycle tires, putting on a car tire is the best solution and most economical way to go, next is Icon shocks and racetec suspension, would cost you about $1000, but would improve your ride a lot.  Wayne

Thanks for the advice Wayne, you are absolutely right of course that a low pressure would ruin the motorcycle tires, ttey are soft rubber to aid cornering.  I only meant maybe by 5psi from spec.

I saw the car tire forum in BurgmanUSA but was concerned with how to remove some metal from the rim without access to a large lathe.  I will have to wait to try that as I only replaced the m/c tire last fall due to picking up a 4inch screw in the rear tire and ruining it.  Couldn't find anyone locally to fit a car tie on my rim.

Sorry you live on Canada's opposite coast, would love to see your trike and the body you built.
