Tow Pac wannabe  (N/A)

I have been seriously considering a Burgman 400 and a Tow Pac kit for my wife.  She is 5' and unable to adequately touch the ground on any but the smallest scoots and wants to commute 30 miles or more, some of it on freeway.  I know the Burgman is up for it but I ran across this review and it scares me:

(my question is, is this what we could expect from a Tow Pac Mini Trike kit?  I can't see my wife fighting the 'wheel' when it starts to wobble or worry about counter weighing to off set the effect of the crown to the extreme that he did.  And, btw, I was considering buying this very kit from this very poster)

Well Folks.....

I found out through a Costly Investment, that the Tow Pac will indeed NOT WORK for me!  So much so, that I will be listing it on Craigslist within the next few days.  Tow-Pac only allows Refunds, if the Kit has not been installed.  Mine has not only been installed, but ridden 200 miles as well.

Here is my Review of the Tow-Pac, based on my 200 mile ride back from Meridian, Texas Thursday evening and Friday:

In the interest of brevity, and because I'm a noobie on the forum, I'll let you read the very long and very disparaging (sp?) rest of the post here if you haven't already:  Blackbeard's Tow Pac review

Re: Tow Pac wannabe  (Canada)

Sorry to hear about your problems. You should have a look at the trinity trike for the 400. They just finished the burgman 650 trike, I am waiting on mine.  Good report on it on www.burgmanusa.com      Look in the 650 fourm and you will find it abd Bob can answer any of your questions.   Wayne

Re: Tow Pac wannabe  (N/A)

I looked at the Trinity, and there is no doubt it is a superior product and produces a true trike.  But it is way out of my budget.  Blackbeard is selling the kit that didn't work for him for $2999.00 vs $4995 or more for the Trinity.  I just want to know if the kit was poorly installed and set up or if it is faulty or if every (I doubt it) Tow Pac kit causes the same handling problems.

Give Lee a call at www.just-trike-it.com, he sells the TOWPAC and says they drive better than the Danson, he may be able to help you out. I never tried one , but my danson is really nice since I did a lot of work on it with suspension upgrades.   Wayne

Re: Tow Pac wannabe  (Canada)

I think if you want a good ride you have to go to a real  trike. I am on the Goldwing trike site a lot  and some start out with the training wheel type to see if they like triking, then go to a real trike and they say it is just so much better of a ride.  A trinity trike is less than half of a GW trike, with better millage and no shifting.  Some of the GW trikes are not that great from what I read, some shake in the front end when you hit a pot hole.   Wayne
